I was very well received by Mrs. Elda Maria Gaspar Alvarez, Minister-Counsellor at the Brazilian Embassy in the city of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Those were unforgettable moments during which she explained that Vietnam is experiencing full economic and cultural development.
She also informed me that Vietnam is one of the countries that has experienced the most growth in recent decades. Its growth rates are surprising, especially when considering the global context of low GDP growth since 2008. Economic development is of fundamental importance for overcoming backwardness and income inequality.
Vietnam's economic growth emerged despite an unfavorable international context in which most countries, particularly those in peripheral regions, experienced minimal growth, enduring recessions and economic crises.
This article analyzes the socio-spatial formation of Vietnam, aiming to identify the strategies that have enabled it to achieve high growth rates in recent decades.
The research also presents statistical data concerning the evolution of GDP, per capita income, industry, and exports. It seeks to draw comparisons with other countries in underdeveloped regions."
